Domodedovo: Russian travel bans incurs 6 bln rbl loss to airports
MOSCOW, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- Combined losses of Russian airports caused by cancelation of air travel with Egypt and Ukraine, and restrictions on flights to Turkey amounted to 6.05 billion rubles, Domodedovo International Airport Deputy CEO Denis Nuzhdin said at an aviation exhibition on Tuesday.
Airports’ losses from cancelled flights to Turkey exceeded 3 billion rubles, while losses from bans on air travel with Egypt and Ukraine amounted to 2.3 billion rubles and 690 million rubles, respectively, he said.
In late 2015, Russia halted flights to Egypt and restricted air travel with Turkey due to deadly plane accidents, as well as banned flights of Ukrainian airlines due to sanction issues and received a similar ban from Kiev in response.
